It’s nearly Christmas!
Some people love this time of year - and some don’t - but either way it is a good excuse to eat, drink and be merry with our loved ones!
Unfortunately, Christmas also has a large environmental impact – in fact one source I read stated that globally, our carbon footprint in this period is 6% higher than in the rest of the year because we tend to buy much more, we generate more waste and travel more[i].
But it does not have to be this way…..
At STHfromNTH we have decided we are going to have an Eco Christmas! We are making our own Christmas trees, reusing old decorations, creating new decorations using cleaned rubbish (you would be amazed at how many sparkly Christmassy things we throw away in our lives!), wrapping presents in reused or recyclable paper and making our own cards and presents. We will also be checking dustbins to make sure nothing upcyclable is thrown away of course!
We would love to share our ideas and to inspire families and individuals to have an even more special Christmas, one which they have created themselves whilst having lots of fun that is not harming our natural environment!
If you and/or your kids are interested in having an eco and creative Christmas, we will be having workshops on how to make your own Christmas tree and decorations on the following dates:
Family Day - Christmas tree & ornaments - 24th November, GAIA Foundation
Short Workshops - 1st December, Malta Artisans Market
Short Workshops - 2nd December, Malta Artisans Market
Please get in touch if you have any comments or suggestions or if you would like to join us on our workshops!
We look forward to having some festive fun with you and we wish all of you a very Happy Eco Christmas!
